We are looking forward to "Ride to the Light" our first annual Biker's Rally at Roanoke Bible College to benefit Cross-Cultural/Missions Scholarships for RBC students! It is going to be a great event. We have a great evening planned on Friday, August 8th, starting with a pig-pickin' catered by the "BBQ King", Ed Griffin. We also have an inspirational service planned for later that evening with Mike Wise as our special guest speaker and the Praise Band from Stoneybrook Church of Christ leading our praise time. There will also be time for recreation and fellowship. Housing will be provided in the dorms that evening (men in the men's dorm, ladies in the ladies' dorm, sorry to all the married couples), so please bring bedding for a twin bed and your toiletries.
Saturday, after a great breakfast, we will pack up and begin our "ride to the light", the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse has been part of the RBC logo since her inception. What a fitting destination for our first ride. Also, it is symbolic since the proceeds from the event will help RBC students spread the "light of Christ" around the world through the scholarships we will be providing.
That leads to the final request we have of you. Although the $50 registration is all that is required to participate in the ride, we are also asking all participants to consider getting "sponsors" for their ride as well. By asking your friends, family members, church family, work associates, etc., to sponsor you during the ride you will help greatly multiply the amount of the scholarships RBC will be able to offer her students. If we are able to raise at least $5000 we can establish a permanent scholarship in the RBC Foundation that future rides can continue to build on. So we are asking all participants to set a goal of raising $500 extra in sponsorships. However, whatever amount you might raise will be an extra blessing.
Please have your sponsors make their checks to RBC and put "Biker's Rally" in the memo. 100% of their gift will be used for scholarship funding and is also tax-deductible. You can bring your registration money and your sponsorships to the ride and present them at registration time. However, we do ask that you call or e-mail Mark Woolard and RSVP so that we know how many to plan for.
